Diaphonised Sand Lice Globe Earrings
Diaphonised Sand Lice Globe Earrings
These amazing little specimens came to me by accident, when a friend and creative collaborator sent me a stingray she had found on the beach. The ray was a day or so old when found, and had gone straight into the formalin before coming to me. I’d noticed that the ray had had some chunks eaten away from the underside gills, but had no idea that almost the whole insides had been eaten out too until I started preparing it!
I carefully removed all the little sand lice from the body, and thought they’d definitely make something beautiful! So it just might be your ears :)
It’s really hard to catch on camera just how intricate and incredible these little guys are, but I did get a couple of half decent detailed shots while holding them upside down. The bubbles float into the neck when upright so no bubbles should be visible when wearing them.
The globes are around 12mm in diameter, and about 16mm long from the cap. They are sold in pairs.
