These beautifully cleared and stained little rats would have been around 3-4 weeks old. As they would have still been developing their skeleton, we can see a range of structures highlighted through the staining process where the bones had yet to properly calcify.

These rats, along with all the mice and rats I work with, were donated to me already dead. My rodents are all sourced either through universities as post-educational specimens, or through breeders that collect natural deceased specimens for me.
