Pastel Diaphonised Subadult Rats
Pastel Diaphonised Subadult Rats
These beautiful little treasures were a little bit of an experiment to see how clear I could get the skin in a larger animal - if you look closely, you can see the ears and facial features in these specimens. Though possibly not in the photos haha.
The colour in these specimens is incredibly consistent across the batch, which is strange as all of them have what appears to be decalcification in the bones of the feet and tail (which you can identify by the paler bone stain). I’m not quite sure why this is - whether it was due to conditions during life, or result of early stages of decomposition I’ll never know. All I know for sure is that these specimens were left out of the freezer for at least 2 days over summer, according to the pet shop worker who donated these to me!
