Diaphonised Juvenile Murray Cod

$55.00

Murray cod are an incredible native Australian fish species. Sadly, they are critically endangered in the wild due to a combination of overfishing, competition from invasive species, and both habitat and climate change.

These specimens were sourced via the aquarist trade, where they were bred in captivity. They are quite young, and only 3-4cm long - but in the wild can grow massive, with the largest on record being 1.8m long and weighing in at 113kg. I can’t imagine they’d get nearly this size in captivity though.

Thankfully there are a number of programs aiming to recover native populations and keep these incredible creatures from extinction.
