Experimental Crystal Skulls
Experimental Crystal Skulls
These awesome little crystallised mouse skulls were from a relatively large range of experiments in colour, where I was attempting to create various different compositions to make some interesting effects.
Most of these skulls have been grown in a variety of different solutions, to try to add layering to the crystal growth for a multiplicity and mix of colours. Some of these were deliberately oxidised under controlled conditions to create a smoky-quartz like effect.
All of these skulls have been grown using at least one layer of a composition which is UV light reactive, so they will discolour if they are exposed to direct sunlight. Ideally they should be kept away from windows.
The colour of these crystals will vary a lot, especially so under different types of light. These were photographed under LED, but under halogen, tungsten, or in natural light the colours may appear quite different. Many of the crystals grown here are also dichroic, meaning that the colour will change depending on the angle of viewing.
As there are so many variations across this collection of skulls, and they are so hard to organise into colour variant types, each order will be picked at random. For any orders for more than one piece I will ensure that the order will have variation and that no two will be alike.
